Meridian Capital received another prize. At today’s ChinaVenture Annual Conference, Meridian Capital was awarded Top 10 “Best Chinese Venture Capital Institutions in China 2015”.
Since its inception in 2008, Meridian Capital consistently focused on investment in culture new media sector, currently it mainly focuses on culture entertainment, consumption upgrading, Internet finance, and corporate level service fields, it has issued 4 RMB funds, and 2 Singapore dollar funds, total management size is close to RMB 5 billion yuan, which benefits more than 100 Internet startup enterprises.
Meridian Capital always cherished high level of concern for culture new media sector, in 2014 it joined force with Shanghai United Media Group to issue 825 New Media Industrial Fund. 825 Fund focuses on early investment of culture new media projects, Phase 1 Fund has finished investment, Phase 2 fundraising work is now near the end, will finish setup in the first half of this year, its size will grow significantly on the basis of Phase 1.
In culture new media sector, apart from already invested outstanding new media projects including interface and wemedia, Meridian Capital also incubated “Wuli”, and joined hands with www.people.com.cn and Shanghai United Media Group to become its founding shareholders. Targeting at the emerging generation born in the 1990’s, “Wuli” is a mobile info reading new media product based on individualized recommendation, aiming to explore non content original creation field driven by technology and operation.
Outside culture new media sector, Meridian Capital’s star investment portfolios also cover consumption upgrading, Internet financing, and corporate service sectors, including China’s biggest WeChat development service provider “Weimob”, Internet one-stop wealth management platform “360caifu”, online human resource platform “www.joyowo.com”, and crowdfunding platform “www.kaistart.com” etc.
As one of the earliest RMB funds in China making deployment in mobile Internet field, Meridian Capital has made extensive investment deployment, early stage investment projects have one after another received follow-up financing and capitalized operation.
